Klokken20 vs. Hinge

Prompts or opening questions? American giant or Danish newcomer? Here are Klokken20 and Hinge side by side — price, likes and life outside the app.

Comparison at a glance

Hinge focuses on relationships and uses prompts instead of pure swiping — and it works. But free users only get a limited number of likes per day (Hinge no longer states an exact figure), and the most-used features require Hinge+ at 99–199 kr/mo or the pricier HingeX. Events and activities in Denmark? The app has none.

Worth knowing about Hinge

Hinge+ costs 99–199 kr/mo depending on how long a plan you commit to — the lowest price is the longest contract, so 99 kr is not what you pay if you want to try the app for a month. HingeX sits above it, and its price has previously been reported at 450 kr/mo, but we were unable to verify that figure in July 2026, so we leave it as unverified rather than build sums on it.

The hardest thing to plan around is the free tier's ceiling. Hinge gives you a limited number of likes per day but puts no number on it — the wording is "a select number". You cannot know in advance how far you will get in an evening, and you discover the limit by hitting it. In return, the prompts are genuinely good craft: they draw out personality where a photo falls short, and that is the best reason to pick Hinge. The Danish user base is simply smaller than Tinder's, and the difference shows most clearly outside the big cities.

Where Hinge is strong

Hinge's prompts are well-crafted and genuinely good at drawing out personality where a photo falls short — the app has invested heavily in designing for better first conversations, and it shows. Marketing itself as the app designed to be deleted also signals serious intent: relationships over endless swiping.

Where Klokken20 is different

Klokken20 advantage

Klokken20 gives you events, activities and Livetimen — none of which Hinge offers. Everything is free for the rest of 2026 for founding members, and the platform is built for Danish dating culture from the ground up, not translated from English.

  • No daily cap on how many people you can reach out to
  • The most-used features do not sit behind a paid tier
  • Danish from the ground up — not translated, and not thin outside the biggest cities
  • The conversation continues in a fixed evening hour, not only in the first reply to a prompt
